Medical Plans for active and eligible retired VETA Bargaining Unit Members are provided through Self-Insured Schools of California (SISC). Plan options include Blue Shield PPO, Blue Shield HMO and Kaiser HMO. Benefit Summaries are available in the tabs below.
Reminders and Helpful Information:
The benefits package for VETA Bargaining Unit Members is fully paid by the district and includes medical, dental and vision insurance for the employee and eligible dependents; and basic Life and AD&D insurance coverage for the employee.

Open Enrollment is held annually during May and is your annual opportunity to make changes to your insurance.
- Changes made to medical plans during Open Enrollment go into effect on October 1st

- Basic Life/AD&D and Voluntary Supplemental Life/AD&D Insurance As of July 1, 2023, our district transitioned to MetLife for our district-paid Basic Life/AD&D Insurance and for our Voluntary Supplemental Life/AD&D plans. The district-paid Basic Life AD&D Insurance benefit amount increased to $50,000. All existing elections carried over to MetLife on July 1, 2023.
