Victor Elementary School District offers health and welfare benefits to all eligible employees. Our goal is to provide resources to keep you informed so that you may utilize the plan benefits to their fullest potential.

• VESD Benefits Open Enrollment is May 8 through May 26, 2023

   This is your once-a-year opportunity to make benefit changes to your insurance benefits for the new plan year! 

   Examples of changes you can make during open enrollment:
   - switch from HMO to PPO Plan or from Blue Shield to Kaiser or vice versa
   - add or drop spouse/dependent(s);
   - enroll in a Section 125 plan
   - enroll, cancel or make changes to an optional voluntary plans such as a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account; or enroll in a 403(b) or 457(b) voluntary retirement plan or Section 125 Flexible Spending Account. Scroll down for information on these plans.

• 2023/2024 Part Time Classified Employee Insurance Costs
Cost information is provided for Part Time Classified Employees interested in purchasing medical insurance.  The cost to enroll in medical insurance is prorated, based on your position hours. In addition to the plan summaries in the tabs below the Blue Shield HMO 12 (Trio ACO) Minimum Value Plan is also an option for Classified Part Time employees who wish to purchase coverage.
   

•   Medical Plans for VETA Bargaining Unit Members are offered through Self-Insured Schools of California (SISC). SISC Plans include Blue Shield HMO, Blue Shield PPO and Kaiser. Click here to be directed to the Certificated Employee Benefits Webpage.

*NEW* 
 Medical Plans for Classified, Management, Confidential and Psychologist employees and retirees will transition to the California Schools Employee Benefits Association (CSEBA) effective 7/1/2023.  Plan options will include Blue Shield PPO, two Blue Shield HMO plans and Kaiser. Employees affected by this change, will need to complete an Electronic Medical Enrollment this year as part of the transition.  Check your vesd email for more information.  

IMPORTANT
- VESD is leaving the High Desert Trust and transitioning to CSEBA effective July 1, 2023
- The Bridge Plan ends on 6/30/23
- Aetna HMO, Aetna PPO and Kaiser w/ Bridge Plans through the High Desert Trust will end on 6/30/2023 due to our transition
Be sure to check your online account with Aetna or Kaiser as well as your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for any outstanding balances you need to submit to our Bridge Plan Administrator for processing.

• NEW Basic and Voluntary Life AD&D Benefits will be moving from Mutual of Omaha to MetLife with improved benefits. The Basic Life AD&D benefit amount is increasing to $50,000. All current elections will carry over to MetLife starting July 1, 2023, however, a special open enrollment period will occur later this year for employees to update their Voluntary Life AD&D benefit elections. If you want to discontinue your voluntary life AD&D insurance, please contact the district Personnel Department for assistance.

 
Section 125 Flexible Spending Account Plans
American Fidelity is our district's third-party administrator for the Section 125 Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account Plans. If you would like to meet with a representative during open enrollment CLICK HERE to schedule an appointment or call American Fidelity directly at 1-800-365-9180, option 0, to receive information, cancel, enroll for the first time, or continue enrollment. Employees enrolled in a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account must re-enroll every year to continue participating their FSA plan.

457(b) Voluntary Retirement Plan Informational Flyer

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for HDIEET Medical Plan Subscribers (this plan ends 6/30/23 and will be replaced by a CSEBA EAP Plan) Aetna offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees who are enrolled in a HDIEET district medical plan with Aetna or Kaiser.  An EAP is designed to assist employees by providing resources such as counseling services, legal services financial services and a variety of other work life resources.  This is a free confidential service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  EAP Returning to Work after COVID-19 Flyer

Reminders...


  Change in Legal Marital Status
Notify Personnel Services as soon as possible if you've had a change in legal marital status, including marriage, divorce, legal separation, annulment, or death of a spouse in order to submit insurance enrollment change forms within the required 30 day window.  Scroll to bottom of page to download forms.

  New Spouse or Newborn Child
Coverage for a new spouse or newborn child is not automatic.  If you experience a change in family status you have 30 days to update your insurance coverage.  Contact Personnel Services immediately to complete the appropriate forms.   If you do not update your coverage within 30 days from the family status change, you will have to wait until the next annual open enrollment period add them to your insurance. Adding a Dependent?
Changes that involve adding dependents due to marriage, birth, or adoption of a child, must be reported within 30 days of the event. A marriage or birth certificate is required when adding a dependent to the insurance.
